Still not Gphone, but…
The Google Brasil’s Blog announced here the Android, which, they say, “is the first cell phone platform trully open. It includes operating system, user interface and applications – all in one software which runs on the cell phone, but without the barriers of proprietary software that hindered the innovation on the segment”.
The post also shows a video (from where I got the picture above) and call the developers to work on applications to this platform.
So, according to them, OpenMoko isn’t open, or isn’t first?

It’s open, but not FLOSS yet. According to the project page, it is open because it “allows you to access core mobile device functionality through standard API calls”. In the video demo, “Sergey Brin and Steve Horowitz discuss the availability of the SDK, that it will be open source in the future, and demo some applications”. So in this sense, OpenMoko has the advantage of being FLOSS (including full source code access).
